Francois-Eugene Vidocq (1775-1857)
Vidocq established “Le Bureau des Renseignements” January 3rd, 1834, and had a colorful career.
There’s no argument that Vidocq’s 1828 romantic Memoires, served as source material for: Balzac, Dickens, Doyle, Dumas, Hugo, and Poe.
The PI Museum collection includes a copy of the English translation of this fascinating personal account of the world’s first Private Eye.
Today, the Vidocq Society uses Vidocq’s methods and approaches to investigate unsolved murders. The Society’s web address is: |
